CMTS served as Owner’s Representative on the construction of the 45,000-square-foot Edgecombe County Biotechnology and Medical Simulation Center that functions as a simulated hospital environment.

CMTS provided comprehensive services, including design and budget review, value engineering, schedule control, site visits, site reports/inspection reviews, status reports, warranty review/coordination, monitoring preconstruction meetings, vendor verification, pay application review, change order review, final review of GMP and contract documents, and substantial/final completion inspections.

Completed in 2015, the $9.8 million structure consists of three levels with slab on grade and two elevated slabs on metal deck. The structural frame consists of steel columns and horizontal I-Beams. The exterior skin of the building is a brick veneer and curtain wall combination with split face CMU accents.

The Center, one of two North Carolina community colleges offering a simulated hospital on campus, has a two-floor hospital facility with an emergency room, intensive care unit, nurse station, radiography suites, surgical suite, and an ambulance setting, as well as multiple classrooms, training labs, administrative offices, and a 96-seat auditorium.
